Olsson gets his goal

Posted on: Tue 25 May 2010

Winger Martin Olsson has been officially credited with his goal scored against Hull City back in February.

The Premier League's 'Dubious Goals Committee' met for the final time for the 2009-10 season, with three Blackburn Rovers goals part of the deliberation.

First up was Olsson's strike that clinched the 1-0 victory over Hull City at Ewood Park. The Swede raced down the left flank, cut in from the byline and shot goalwards with the ball striking Boaz Myhill and finding the back of the net. The goal was initially marked down as a Myhill own goal, but after the panel sat, they have now awarded the goal to Olsson.

That means Olsson can claim two goals last season following on from his Goal of the Season strike in the Carling Cup semi-final against Aston Villa.

Niko Kalinic's goal against Bolton Wanderers in the 3-0 win has been confirmed as a goal for the Croatian, but Junior Hoilett will have to wait until next season to claim his first Premier League goal as that has been confirmed as a Richard Dunne own goal.
