Gunning for Wembley

Posted on: Thu 20 May 2010

ROVERS will have representatives at Wembley after Rotherham United reached the League Two play-off finals after defeating Aldershot Town 2-0 (3-0 on aggregate).

Rovers defender Gavin Gunning, who has been on loan with The Miller's since January, played the full match at the Don Valley Stadium. The 19-year-old amongst a resolute back four that gave Aldershot few openings.

Adam Le Fondre grabbed the all-important first goal just before the break, his 30th strike of the season, before Kevin Ellison headed home just past the hour mark to seal the victory.

Rovers' other representative at Rotherham, Marcus Marshall, was an unused substitute.

Barring a huge upset, Rotherham will face Dagenham & Redbridge in the final as the Daggers lead Morecambe 6-0 after their first leg. The second leg takes place at Morecambe's Christie Park this Thursday evening.

The final takes place at Wembley on Sunday 30th May.
