Robbo should be heading to South Africa

Posted on: Wed 12 May 2010

ROVERS boss Sam Allardyce can't understand why Paul Robinson isn't going to the World Cup.

The Rovers keeper, who has kept 12 clean sheets in the Premier League this season, was left out of the initial 30-man England squad, which Fabio Capello announced yesterday.

Big Sam said: "As much as I respect him and admire him for what he has done, I think Fabio has made a big mistake in his selection process.

"Twelve clean sheets speaks for itself. He has said in the past that people who are in form would get selected and there's nobody in better form than Paul Robinson.

"Perhaps Joe Hart can run him close, but Hart hasn't got 41 international caps of experience and hasn't played in any major championships before.

"It would be much more valuable to have Paul Robinson there. David James is in and out because it appears he has an injury problem, so I'm really disappointed that he hasn't selected him, but I'm bound to say that as I'm Paul Robinson's manager."
