JUNIOR Hoilett is hoping that the Premier League's dubious goals panel take an interest in Sunday's 1-0 win over Aston Villa.

For after initially being awarded with the goal at Villa Park, the Canadian forward saw his header then named as a Richard Dunne own goal.

But after registering his first goal in senior football this season - a diving header in the Carling Cup against Gillingham - Hoilett wants to be able to say he's now a Premier League goalscorer too.

 

"I felt a touch, so of course I'm going to claim it," said the 19-year-old.

"Thats the first league goal of the season for me, so I'm proud and happy for it.

"It was a good game, we played hard and we worked hard and we got a good result because of it. It ends a good season for us."

Hoilett is one of a number of emerging young talent on the books at Blackburn Rovers, and he can see a bright future for the club.

"There's a good group of young players here at the club, we are all working hard in training and it is good that the manager has the confidence in the young players.

"We've shown that we are confident, mentally strong and work hard as a team."

For Rovers, with one defeat in their final nine matches, the season end has perhaps come too soon, but Junior welcomes the break nevertheless.

"We've had a good season, but it is now to have some fun and head back home to see the family," added Hoilett.
