ROVERS can look back with pride on a memorable season, according to Spanish star defender Michel Salgado.

"Playing at home we had a great season," said the veteran who won a host of trophies in 10 years at Real Madrid.

"I think we need to improve on the ball and we need to get more points when we play on the road.

"We need to keep more of the ball away from Ewood Park. We play with confidence at home, it is a fortress, but in the Premier League if we want to qualify for Europe we need something more on the road.

"We have a big battle against teams like Tottenham and Manchester City with big budgets so it is always going to be difficult.

"It has been a new challenge for me - I have enjoyed my football here. I am playing for an historic club in England and I am looking forward to the next year.

"We got through to a semi-final - maybe next year we can go one step further. We've a great mix of young players and proven players - a good balance to do well."
