Salgado wants Villa revenge

Posted on: Fri 07 May 2010

MICHEL SALGADO is gunning for revenge as Rovers bring down the curtain on their season with a trip to Aston Villa.

After knocking Rovers out of the FA Cup, Martin O'Neill's side also dashed their hopes of reaching the arling Cup final as won 7-4 on aggregate after Rovers had come from a goal down aftrer the first leg to take a 2-0 lead at Vil Park in the return.

"We were unlucky in the second leg of the cup - we were winning 2-0 easy but then had the unlucky penalty and the sending off," said Spanish veteran Salgado.

"For the first 20 minutes we were playing really well at Villa Park, so now is the chance for revenge.

"We want to try to beat them as it is important for us. We are 11th and for the club it is important to end the season in the top half of the table, and for us it is the same.

"People may say the season is over, but it is not like that - we have to try and beat Aston Villa and try to finish tenth because it will give us confidence for next season."
