Junior rolls back the years

Posted on: Mon 03 May 2010

Junior Hoilett took a trip down memory lane when he returned to the Rovers Academy to lead a special skill school for local youngsters chosen to take part on account of their good behaviour.

The participants, who engage on the Street Soccer and Midnight League courses run by the club's Community Trust, had been specially selected for their good behaviour.

Junior, who left Canada to join the club at the age of 13, handed out a few top tips before answering questions from the excited group.

He said: "It was great to get involved with the kids from the local community. I showed them a few tricks and they looked like they were really enjoying themselves.

"As professional footballers, we can play a big part in helping young people further their aspirations and hopefully realise their dreams.

"When I look back to my time here, I sacrificed a lot and I've worked hard to get where I am today."

The 'Places for Players' event was organised in conjunction with the Community Safety Partnership, who recently benefited from a legacy donation of £20,000 from the Premier League.

Places for Players is part of Creating Chances, the umbrella brand for all of the good cause work that the Premier League delivers in communities both in the UK and across the world.
