Season defining games

Posted on: Wed 24 Mar 2010

SAM Allardyce believes Rovers' next three games will go a long way to defining their season.

Rovers will look to continue their fine form at Ewood Park when Birmingham visit this evening, before attempting to turn their away fortunes around when they travel to two of the club in the bottom three.

With eight games to go, Big Sam is looking to finish with a flurry and turn a good season into a great one.

He said: "We've got some teams who are in the bottom three or four - two of which are coming up very quickly. After Birmingham, we've got Burnley and then Portsmouth.

"And with our home form in particular, we've got to see Birmingham as one that we've got a great opportunity to win, as good a season as they've had. Our home game - four wins and a draw in our last five - suggests that if we play anything like we did in the second half against Chelsea, that should hopefully bring us a victory.

"And then we've got to turn the away results around and there shouldn't be a better opportunity than playing two teams who are in the bottom three.

"It's been a real Jekyll and Hyde season for us - with Champions League form at home and relegation form away - so if we could have got a better balance, who knows where we would have finished this year.

"Our aim is to finish the last eight games with the best run of results as we possibly can and then relax and enjoy the summer, and then try and build on what we've done this year."

Tickets for tonight's game will be on sale right up until the 8.00pm kick-off.
