Brown eager to grasp his chance

Posted on: Fri 19 Mar 2010

GOALKEEPER Jason Brown is ready to take his place between the posts for Rovers against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Rovers stopper has had to be a patient substitute for the majority of the season, but aims to grasp the opportunity of his first Premier League start of the season with both hands after Paul Robinson's untimely injury.

"It is a great opportunity and I'm very much looking forward to it," said the Welshman.

"It is sad what has happened to Robbo, he's a good friend of mine, but that is part and parcel of life, as one door shuts another one opens, so I'm looking forward to this run of games."

Brown was thrust into action as a first half substitute against Tottenham last Saturday, facing an in-form Roman Pavlyuchenko and Jermain Defoe. Whilst this weekend at Ewood Park it will be the likes of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka he'll be looking to keep at bay. But that doesn't phase the 27-year-old.

"Don't get me wrong, they are great players, and you want to be tested against the best and that is certainly the case on Sunday.

"I'm looking forward to it, but for me it is just a normal game, I'll just go into it and hopefully enjoy it.

"It is a great opportunity for me to put some games together and take each game as it comes. We've Birmingham on the Wednesday and then Burnley would be a great place to get another away win.

"So I just want to do well."

Tickets for Sunday's game will be on sale right up until the 4pm kick-off.
