Robbo to have scan

Posted on: Sat 13 Mar 2010

PAUL Robinson will have a scan on the calf injury sustained during Saturday's match against Tottenham Hotspur to determine how long the goalkeeper will be out for.

The former Spurs stopper pulled up after 15 minutes of Saturday's 3-1 defeat with a calf strain and will be assessed by physios as soon as possible to find out the damage.

"Its not clever, he has a calf injury," confirmed Allardyce.

"We'll have to have the calf scanned as soon as we can to see the extent of the tear and then see how long it would take to repair that and get him back fit and well.

"It gives Jason an opportunity to come into the fray and show us what he can do.

"He's done a great job in the small times he's played this season in the Carling Cup and hopefully that will stand him in good stead and he'll step in and do a very good job."

Allardyce could choose to recall either Mark Bunn or Frank Fielding who are both currently on loan with Sheffield United and Rochdale respectively.

"We'll have to have a look at that and obviously take that up next week and see where and who we should call, whether it would be Bunn or Fielding."
