Raring to go

Posted on: Fri 12 Mar 2010
MANAGER Sam Allardyce hopes the two-week break since Rovers' last league game works in their favour this weekend.

Rovers' senior stars received a welcome rest at this crucial stage of the season after Saturday's scheduled game against Birmingham was postponed due to the Blues' involvement in FA Cup.

Tottenham, meanwhile, were involved in a gruelling quarter-final against Fulham and Big Sam believes his troops will be fresh and raring to go at White Hart Lane.

"I think we've done pretty well as this season has gone by when we've come back from either international breaks or enforced breaks, like last weekend when Birmingham were in the FA Cup," he said.

"We hope it gives the lads that extra bit of rest, that extra vitality and that bit of steel to perform that little bit better to try and get the result.

"There's been international players away anyway, so at least we didn't have to face the prospect of six or seven players coming back from their travels before we played Birmingham on the Saturday.

"So that could be a good thing, but we'll certainly know by the end of Saturday afternoon whether it has helped us or not."
