Know your history?

Posted on: Sun 02 May 2010

ROVERS fan Gordon Ormerod has produced another of his excellent books detailing the history of the football club.

The latest edition covers the 1930-31 a season best remembered for the infamous round robin letter was penned by 16 players and criticised the tactics adopted by Bob Crompton who immediately rsigned as honorary manager.

Later in the season he suffered the indignity of being voted off the board of directors. An unusual way to treat someone who had served the club faithfully for 34 years.

When the Rovers played at Old Trafford in April their visit attracted 6,414 specators. Manchester United were relegated at the end of the season finishing nine points behind the pack. How things have changed 80 years later.

Hope you enjoy reading this fascinating insight into Rovers past. The book makes a very interesting read and is only £6 incl postage.
