Sam's sadness

Posted on: Tue 09 Feb 2010
Sam Allardyce has expressed his sadness following the tragic death of Rovers supporter John Taylor.

John died following an incident at Stoke City on Saturday and Big Sam hopes Rovers can record a victory over Hull City tomorrow night in his honour.

"It is a hugely sad situation for John's family," said the Rovers manager.

"It is a great tragedy that has happened. I have never heard of anything like this whatsoever in my entire life as a football man.

"Obviously as the football club that he supported, our sympathies go out to his family and we will be doing our utmost on Wednesday night in terms of respect for him and a minute's silence and wearing black armbands.

"It is just a great shame that this unfortunate incident has happened. We just hope that if it helps the family in some way we get them a win and we get three very valuable points."
