Formation fortune

Posted on: Thu 04 Feb 2010

El-Hadji Diouf believes Rovers' change in fortunes is down to a change in formation.

With seven points from their last three outings, including a rare point away at West Ham United, it now sees Rovers looking up the league table as opposed to down, and the former Senegal international puts that down to a change in system.

"The gaffer has changed the way we play," admitted Diouf. "We now play 4-3-3 and when we don't have the ball we play 4-5-1.

"It is good because we don't allow the opposition to have the ball we don't allow them to attack us.

"We work hard when we don't have the ball, but when we do we can attack quickly."

As Rovers prepare for another tough task on the road at Stoke City on Saturday, Diouf feels that if the team continue to work hard they'll begin to reap more rewards.

"We have been unlucky in front of goal in some games, particularly away from home, but we continue to work hard to put that right.

"We believe in our team and we know that if we need to continue like that and I'm sure we'll finish high in the league."
