Benni moves on

Posted on: Mon 01 Feb 2010

BENNI McCarthy has completed his transfer to West Ham United.

The 32-year-old South African has joined the London club on a two and a half year deal for an undisclosed fee.

McCarthy was brought to Ewood Park by former boss Mark Hughes in the summer of 2006 for a fee of £2.5m and had a successful first season when he finished top scorer with 24 goals.

The striker didn't quite hit the heights the following seasons but still reached double figures, this term however he had just the one league goal to his name and three in the League Cup.

McCarthy could be in line to make his debut for West Ham against Burnley this weekend.
