Benni deal set to complete

Posted on: Fri 29 Jan 2010

ROVERS expect the Benni McCarthy transfer to West Ham United to be resolved in the next 48 hours.

Manager Sam Allardyce said: "I don't know exactly where things are up to, but I do know that he is close to finally becoming a West Ham player.

"It is a work permit situation that is the only hiccup, but I think that will be overcome in the next day or so - at the very earliest it would perhaps Saturday but more likely on Sunday.

"We are looking at the opportunity to bring another player in if that transfer does go through. We are searching and doing a little bit of negotiating now. When it is final, nailed on, that he is has left then we'll try and move as quickly as we can to secure another player.

"It might not be on the front line. but if the player has got the quality and the ability to help Blackburn Rovers be better then we will try and move forward and bring him in."
