SWEDISH star Martin Olsson believes Rovers can build on the positives from the Carling Cup defeat and take it into the Barclays Premier League game against Wigan Athletic at Ewood Park next Wednesday.
The defender turned midfielder was impressive once again as Rovers went close to reaching a Wembley final with a stirring performance, and now Olsson wants Rovers to carry that into the league.
"We just have to take the positives into the Wigan game next Wednesday," said Olsson.
"It is at home, a place where we are very strong and that is where we we've been playing our best football.
"If we take the positives out of the game against Villa and the team spirit that we've been showing and I'm sure we'll get another three points."
Olsson is flying at the moment and he capped his performance at Villa Park with a stunning overhead kick, his first goal of the season.
Now Olsson wants a run of games to keep improving and to help the club go places.
"My goal was pretty nice! Of course my confidence will go up. Yes we lost but I'm thinking of the positives and hopefully playing better and better in every game.
"I just want to get more games, as long as I'm in the team or on the bench coming on then I'll be happy to play.
"I'm enjoying my football right now and I'm enjoying how the team is playing right now."
The hard work has paid off for the 21-year-old, admitting he's been staying back after training sessions.
"Me and Junior Hoilett have been in doing more weights and working on our two-touch. That's what we've been doing every day, and just after training we've been working on some crosses.
"My confidence just feels high, Sam Allardyce has put me back in the team and it just feels much better."
