Misery for Morten

Posted on: Thu 21 Jan 2010

MORTEN Gamst Pedersen isn't intending to dwell on Rovers' heartbreaking defeat at Villa Park on Wednesday evening.

After an impressive start in which Niko Kalinić scored twice, Rovers looked to have inched closer to a place in a Wembley final until a poor refereeing decision was added to by the sending off of Christopher Samba leaving Rovers to battle on in the second half with just ten men.

And although they gamely went about their business, the goal deficit was just too much to make up.

"We started so well but we gave it away," was Morten's reaction after the game.

"We were so close and yet so far away, we are really disappointed now but we just have to feel sad tonight but then we have to start thinking about the game against Wigan next Wednesday.

"We played really well, we passed the ball well and they weren't sure what to do at one point, but that is football, it turns around quick and that is what happened.

"We did something different and it worked really well, but we aren't thinking about that now, I just want to forget about it now."

Rovers have the chance to get the cup tie out of their system when they take on Wigan Athletic at Ewood Park on Wednesday 27th January, kick-off 8.00pm.

Tickets are on open sale priced from £17 for Adults, £12 Seniors/Club 16-21 Members and £7 for Juniors. Alternatively see the Wigan game and the Hull City game in the WEC Group Darwen End for just £20. For futher details visit www.onerovers.co.uk
