Robbo ready for penalties

Posted on: Wed 20 Jan 2010
Goalkeeper Paul Robinson insists he would be happy for tonight's semi-final second leg to go to penalties.

The England international was Rovers' hero in the last round - saving twice in the shootout against Chelsea.

And the 30-year-old would relish another opportunity to make a name for himself, should tonight's tie finish 1-0 to the visitors after extra-time.

"I think we'd take penalties," he said.

"Going into the game behind means that we would have done well in the game to take it to extra-time and penalties.

"When you get to penalties it's a lottery, but we did well in the previous round against Chelsea, so there is no reason why we couldn't progress again.

"Penalties are a win-win situation for a goalkeeper, because the odds are stacked against you.

"If you make a save then you're a hero, so I'd be quite happy if it went to penalties, as it would be my chance to shine."

Tickets for the match go off sale on Wednesday at Ewood Park at 2pm and 12 noon in The Mall, Tickets are on sale at Villa Park from the Doug Ellis Ticket Office.
