Olsson impresses again

Posted on: Mon 18 Jan 2010

MARTIN Olsson once again earned the plaudits of his manager Sam Allardyce after Rovers defeated Fulham 2-0.

The Swedish under 21 international impressed both at left wing and latterly left back as Rovers picked up an important victory over Roy Hodgson's side.

Olsson has had to be patient for his chance under Allardyce, but in recent weeks he has really made his mark, and it was his display against Aston Villa in the FA Cup that really brought him to the forefront of the manager's mind.

"With Martin we have seen a  gradual emergence since I've been here and certainly from the start of this season," Allardyce told Radio Rovers.

"The real message he sent to us was Aston Villa away in the FA Cup and we've had no problems now putting him on in the team when we've had to.

"So it is full credit to him for his quick learning curve, we know he's a very talented player but he's using the intelligence to apply that talent in a very good way at the moment."
