Sam to Franco: Get me goals!

Posted on: Fri 01 Jan 2010

Sam Allardyce has challenged Franco Di Santo to turn performances into goalscoring displays.

The 20-year-old extended his loan deal from Chelsea until the end of the season on Wednesday afternoon, much to the delight of the Rovers boss who now he wants the young striker to build on the displays in his first half of the season with Rovers.

"We are very pleased that he is here until the end of the season," said Allardyce. "There is obviously Chelsea to be thankful for, to Carlo Ancelotti and his staff for allowing it to happen.

"And Franco himself by telling Chelsea that he'd prefer to stay and play with us.

"I think that has been one of the key elements as to why we have extended the loan, he feels that he has enjoyed his time here and he's had games to play and develop.

"We all want him to continue that way, and now the only thing that he and we hope for is that he produces one or two more goals.

"We are very pleased with his performances, if he could just turn one or two more chances into goals for us that means he'll be even more successful in the second half to the season than he has for us in the first."
