Reid back at Rovers

Posted on: Thu 24 Dec 2009

Midfielder Steven Reid is back at Blackburn Rovers after his loan spell with Queens Park Rangers ended at the weekend.

The Republic of Ireland international went to the Championship club in a bid to get some important match action under his belt, but a combination of knee and hamstring injuries meant that the 28-year-old was limited to just one start and one substitute appearance for the London club.

It was initially thought that Reid may extend his loan deal with QPR in January, but with a change of manager at Loftus Road that now doesn't look like it will be the case.

"Steven Reid is on his way back to us now," revealed Allardyce.

"His loan deal hasn't been extended apparently so Steven will be back with us.

"So hopefully he won't pick up the sort of niggling injuries he did when he was at Queens Park Rangers."

Other players who have seen their loan deals end are Zurab Khizanishvili and Keith Treacy. Whilst Alan Judge and Mark Bunn's loan deals currently end at the end of this month.
