Same old story for Sam
BOSS Sam Allardyce was once again left to rue missed chances as their profligacy in front of goal continued at Ewood Park.
Rovers spurned numerous opportunities to score against Tottenham Hotspur, whilst the opposition were clinical in despatching theirs as Peter Crouch bagged a brace to claim all three points for the visitors.
"Thats life for us at the moment," said Allardyce on Radio Rovers after the game.
"A reflection over the last five games for me today is one that we are very disappointed about indeed because there is only one disappointing performance out of those five matches which was Birmingham.
"Against Stoke City, Liverpool, Hull City and again today we've been better in many ways than the opposition but we haven't been clinical enough to finish teams off.
"This time we've paid the ultimate price, instead of drawing we've ended up losing and that is a real shame because there have been so many points that have been thrown away from our point of view in those games.
"Three points out of five matches looks like a bad run, but the three 0-0s and today's 0-2 doesn't reflect the performance.
"So we've got to keep great heart and confidence from that and believe that a little bit of good fortune will come our way, and our players that get the chances start to put them in the back of the net, because that is becoming a critical area for us."
Tottenham took the lead right on the stroke of half-time when Peter Crouch headed in off the underside of the bar, but Allardyce was unhappy that a foul hadn't been given as Crouch climbed above Nelsen.
"Again today we've seen the difference between Tottenham and ourselves, the only difference was one man and that man is called Peter Crouch.
"He converted all the chances he had in the game into goals, he didn't have any other chances at all. Even when he was offside in the second half he still found the back of the net.
"One he got by fouling Ryan Nelsen, but the other was a class finish.
"Our captain was thrown to the floor, it is the last minute of the half and he's trying to stop Crouch and he ends up on the floor. How has he got there? He hasn't dived over, so he has to have been impeded by Crouch.
"But the referee has allowed the goal to stand and that is the most disappointing thing for me."
