Draw disappoints Sam

Posted on: Sat 12 Dec 2009

Sam Allardyce was left disappointed that his side didn't make more of the opportunities presented to them as they picked up a point at Hull City.

In a game in which it was Rovers' third consecutive goalless draw in the league, Allardyce was pleased with the defensive display but not the one in front of goal.

"I'm slightly disappointed that we haven't gathered all three points, and a big three points it would have been as well today," said the Rovers boss.

"But I am very very pleased with how we played defensively. Out of possession we gave Hull City, a side with a very good home record, very little, we nullified their attacking force for most of the game.

"They got one chance in the first half but Paul Robinson made a very good save, there was Garcia with half a chance in the second half and thats it, there's nothing else that Hull can really shout about.

"But we've had Benni put the ball in the back of the net, perhaps it is just offside. Then Niko was brought down but he tried to stay on his feet and got his shot off when a penalty wasn't given.

"Niko then had chances that he should have done better with.

"But at the end of the we've got a very good point, we've another very important clean sheet which builds the confidence coming away from."
