Late tests for midfielders

Posted on: Fri 04 Dec 2009

The Rovers' management will assess the fitness of midfield duo David Dunn and Keith Andrews ahead of Saturday's Ewood clash with Liverpool.

Both players missed Wednesday night's Carling Cup win over Chelsea due to calf strains, with Irishman Andrews a little closer to regaining full fitness.

"We are assessing them this morning to see whether there has been any reaction to the work they've been doing," Neil McDonald told the media on Friday morning.

"So we'll find out this Friday afternoon whether they are going to be in the squad or not.

"Keith has probably a better chance of making it than David but everybody else is fit."

After the rigours of Wednesday night's win, there'll be a few tired limbs but assistant manager Neil McDonald reports there were no further injuries picked up during the 120 minutes.

After being ineligible on Wednesday evening, Franco Di Santo returns to the squad and is available for selection.

Therefore Sam Allardyce is expected to choose from: Robinson, Chimbonda, Samba, Nelsen, Givet, Emerton, Nzonzi, Grella, Pedersen, Di Santo, Roberts, McCarthy, Grella, Dunn, Andrews, Jacobsen, Salgado, Kalinić, Hoilett, Diouf, Brown, van Heerden, Olsson, Jones.
