Sam ‘procedure’ goes well

Posted on: Fri 27 Nov 2009

Rovers' manager Sam Allardyce today underwent an angioplasty - a medical procedure to correct narrowing to one branch of his coronary arteries.

Rovers club doctor Phil Batty said: "The procedure has gone well and Sam is expected to be discharged from hospital tomorrow."

Sam said: "I would like to thank everyone who has sent messages of goodwill and the entire cardiology team."

Sam will now spend a few days recuperating and it is anticipated that he will return to his duties with Rovers for the Barclays Premier League home fixture with Liverpool on Saturday December 5th.

In the meantime, assistant manager Neil McDonald will remain in charge of first team affairs.
