Givet misses Cottage clash

Posted on: Tue 24 Nov 2009

Rovers will have to change a winning side when they travel to the capital to face Fulham on Wednesday evening with the news that Gaël Givet will miss out.

The French international has been unable to shake off a kick to the thigh sustained during the first half of Sunday's win over Bolton Wanderers and misses out on the Craven Cottage encounter.

The man who replaced him on Sunday, Lars Jacobsen, could be in line to return to the starting line-up after missing the previous two games, but Rovers also have Michel Salgado and Martin Olsson waiting in the wings.

"Gaël is still struggling, his thigh is really really sore," said assistant manager Neil McDonald. "But he should be back fit for Saturday.

"But we are well covered, Pascal Chimbonda can play both sides and I think Lars Jacobsen did really well when he came on on Sunday including saving one off the line which helped us keep a clean sheet.

"So we have plenty of options, we've Michel as well, so we'll sit down after training today and see what sort of team the manager is going to pick."

No other injury worries have been reported so a large squad is expected to make the trip: Robinson, Jacobsen, Samba, Nelsen, Chimbonda, Emerton, Nzonzi, Dunn, Diouf, Roberts, Di Santo, Brown, McCarthy, Grella, Pedersen, Andrews, Kalinić, Hoilett, Olsson, Salgado.
