Niko impresses again

Posted on: Thu 19 Nov 2009

Nikola Kalinić scored one and set up the other as Croatia's under 21s were victorious against Slovakia.

The young Rovers striker played all but time added on in Zlate Moravce as Croatia moved above their opponents to the top of their UEFA Under 21 qualification group.

Croatia took the lead just before the half hour when Kalinić converted a cross from close range.

But two minutes after the restart the home side levelled.

However four minutes from time a strong run by Kalinić saw him feed his strike partner Vida and he finished well to give Croatia all the points.

Also on international duty on Wednesday evening was defender Lars Jacobsen.

He played the full match for Denmark as they defeated USA 3-1 in Arhus.

Young defender Grant Hanley is in action for Scotland this Thursday evening when he and his under 19 team-mates take on Germany in Paderborn.
