Samba signs contract extension

Posted on: Tue 17 Nov 2009

Rovers defender Christopher Samba has signed a new deal with the football club.

The 25-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a new deal that sees him contracted to Rovers until the summer of 2014.

On the news, Chairman John Williams said: "I am delighted that we have been able to secure Chris on a new long-term deal, which is an important deal for the club.

"It has been richly deserved through his performances over the past few seasons, particularly during the last campaign when he demonstrated a tremendous attitude when playing in an unfamiliar role as a striker".

The giant defender joined Rovers after a successful trial with the club, sealing a £400,000 move from German Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin in January 2007. To date he has made 109 appearances and scored 9 goals.
