Stephen Warnock has this evening completed his switch to Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old has signed a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Speaking of the departure, a philosophical Sam Allardyce said:  "Like most things, you don't want them to go, but once the player doesn't want to stay there is little you can do about it.

"So you have to maximise the financial side for the club as best as you can and do the best deal as you can and then move on.

"It is disappointing, it isn't something you want to happen, but that is what can happen in this bizarre transfer window period."

Signed during the January transfer window in 2007, Warnock made 109 appearances for Rovers, scoring 6 goals and was last season's Player of the Year.
