MICHEL Salgado will bid an emotional farewell to his adoring Real Madrid fan-club at a special game in his honour.

The veteran defender, who spent a decade with the Spanish giants before joining Rovers on a free transfer earlier this week, will be the guest of honour at the Bernabéu on Monday evening, when Real take on Rosenborg for The Bernabéu Trophy.

Looking forward to what promises to be a very special occasion, the Spaniard said: "It is going to be special for me, after ten years with the supporters, and ten years at the biggest club that you can play at.

"I love Real Madrid, I played there for ten years, so you never forget this. I won everything there.

"It is going to be an emotional day for me, for my family and my friends.

"But then when I come back, I will only be thinking of Blackburn Rovers."
