MANAGER Sam Allardyce has hailed the arrival of Michel Salgado to the football club.

The full back became Rovers' eighth summer signing after completing his move from Real Madrid on Wednesday, signing a two-year deal.

Sam's previous signings this summer had an average of 23, but he had no hesitation of making a move for the vastly experienced Spaniard.

"He's the only one I've gone for that are in their later years," said the Rovers boss. "He rings a Fernando Hierro to me on what he did at Bolton for me.

"I've got that feel about him, he's an outstanding player, with an outstanding CV and an outstanding career and an outstanding person.

"That was the most impressive thing for me when I met him, that this lad will bring an awful lot, not just on the field but to the club in general, it will give it bigger status.

"He will demand more from the players, rather than me or the coaches, I want him to bring a Real Madrid attitude to a Blackburn Rovers dressing room.

"That is what Fernando did at Bolton and we all benefitted from that so hopefully that will be the case with Michel."

The 'Salgado 27' shirt is sure to be a big seller at the Roverstore this season.
