Last stop, Dundee

Posted on: Fri 07 Aug 2009

Franco Di Santo is expected to lead the line again when Rovers play their final pre-season friendly on Saturday at Tannadice.

The Argentinian youth international impressed on his Ewood debut in Wednesday night's draw with Hibernian and he'll get another chance to stake a claim for a starting place in the Barclays Premier League when Rovers take on Dundee United at 12 noon.

Speaking about Di Santo to Radio Rovers, boss Sam Allardyce said: "I liked what I saw, I think we've got an eager young man to come and play in the Premier League and we've got Chelsea to thank for that.

"Discussions started last May when we played them away, that is how long ago it started, that is how long it has took to sort it out.

"Thankfully Chelsea have stuck to their word, there were a lot of other clubs showed an interest but they gave us the opportunity.

"They want him to play in the Premier League and we can give him that chance and hopefully he'll be a great success with us and that would be really good business from our point of view and also good development for Chelsea."

Allardyce is expected to name a much-changed starting eleven, with the Rovers boss likely to leave out those players who will be away on international duty next week.

Supporters making the trip to Tannadice can pay on the turnstiles. Prices are £12 for Adults, £8 Concessions.
