Posted on: Tue 04 Aug 2009

Blackburn Rovers are delighted to announce two major appointments to the football backroom team.

Steve Kean arrives as the new First Team Coach, while Martyn Glover takes up the role of Head of Player Recruitment.

Steve, 41, has previously worked as assistant manager at Fulham, Real Sociedad and, most recently, Coventry City.

During his career, Steve has also held reserve team coaching responsibilities with Fulham and Academy Director status at both Craven Cottage and Reading.

Martyn, 42, has been with Rovers for 11 years, holding a number of key positions in recruitment and development at both the Academy and the Senior Training Centre.

Rovers manager Sam Allardyce said: "We had numerous applications for the first team coaching position and Steve stood out above the rest through his personality, experience and knowledge of football at the highest level.

"We are very confident that he will become a key member of the team behind the team, as we drive things forward.

"Martyn has been with the club over a long period and has shown exceptional dedication to the task of recruitment.

"He has moved up from assistant chief scout to this new challenge and he is taking on a vastly important role, crucial to the future of the club."

Rovers chairman John Williams said: "Both Steve and Martyn have taken on positions of great responsibility and I know that Sam is very happy indeed with both appointments.

"The contribution of a club's backroom team can never be overstated and we feel we have an excellent team in place."
