No worry over knocks

Posted on: Mon 20 Jul 2009

Sam Allardyce expects Stephen Warnock and Vince Grella to shake off the injuries that forced them to miss the matches in Croatia, whilst there is promising news on long-term injury duo Steven Reid and Brett Emerton.

Both Warnock and Grella picked up slight knocks in the 2-2 draw with AS Roma in Bolzano, Italy on Thursday evening, meaning they missed the draw against Nacional and the defeat to Hajduk Split, but they aren't thought to be significant.

"We had a couple of little injuries with a couple of players who didn´t take part," admitted the Rovers boss/

"Stephen felt his hip flexer, whilst Vince has a hamstring so we didn´t risk those.

"They are only slight knocks, we are not envisaging that they´ll be any longer than a day or two.

"We are also hearing good progress on Brett Emerton back at home and Steven Reid is coming along too."
