Lars looking forward

Posted on: Tue 30 Jun 2009

New signing Lars Jacobsen can't wait to get started at his new club Blackburn Rovers.

The 29-year-old completed a free transfer to the Ewood Park club on Monday, signing a two-year deal.

Speaking to rovers.co.uk, the right back said: "I'm very happy to be here and I'm really looking forward to the next two years.

"It is going to be a good experience for me and hopefully for Blackburn Rovers as well, so I'm really looking forward to it."

After enjoying spells with clubs in Denmark and Germany, the Danish international got a taste of the Premier League last season with Everton, although by his own admission that didn't go as planned as a dislocated shoulder at the start of his spell at the Goodison Park club meant he missed a large part of the season.

"The Premier League is probably the biggest league in the world and everybody wants to play there, I am no different," added Lars.

"I got off to a poor start with a shoulder injury and was out for half of the year so it wasn't the best start. But I got fought back and played six matches including the second half of the cup final so that was a great experience for me.

"I've even been to Ewood before as I was just coming back from my shoulder injury at the time we drew 0-0 in March, I was on the bench for ninety minutes - freezing!"

Whilst the rest of the first team who haven't been involved in internationals return to pre-season training at Brockhall on Wednesday, Lars, who played in Denmark's 1-0 friendly win over Sweden at the beginning of the month, has flown back home for a few extra days off.

"I've got a couple of days more holiday as I had a national game against Sweden on June 6th which we won 1-0, so I will join up with the rest of the lads away in Austria.

"I'm really looking forward to getting to know everybody and to playing some football with the lads."
