Boss Sam Allardyce was disappointed that refereeing decisions took centre stage on the final game of the season.
In what should have been a glorious ending to a successful campaign for Allardyce, instead he once again found himself questioning a referee.
After a goalless first half in which each side struck the woodwork, the game opened up in the second, but the shock sending off of Jason Roberts effectively ended the game as a contest.
"We just needed a goal to kick us on, but we didn't quite get that in the first half," Allardyce told Radio Rovers after the game.
"But obviously with the heat and a long old season, the game opened up in the second and it was there for someone to take a chance.
"I was pleased with the draw and the clean sheet in the end, but I am so gutted that I am talking about a decision in the last game of the season that not only cost us the chance to win, but also will cost me the player in the first three games of next season.
"I can't see where it is a straight red card, I simply can't see it.
"Me and Tony didn't know who he had shown the card to, I've seen it again and the referee has said that Jason has been sent off for punching Olsson. Those where his words.
"It isn't a punch, it isn't even an elbow in the face, he's just swinging around to get his arm away from Olsson who is having a tug at him.
"So it is sad that I am talking about a decision like that rather than Tugay's performance or a goal that could have come in the last few minutes to win us the game."
