Play-off loss for Fielding

Posted on: Mon 11 May 2009

Rovers goalkeeper Frank Fielding's season ended in disappointing fashion for the second successive season as Rochdale were defeated in the play-offs.

The 21-year-old stopper has been on loan at the Spotland club for the second half of the season, featuring in all of their games in their chase for promotion, but like last season when Fielding lost in the play-offs for Wycombe Wanderers, he was again to taste defeat.

The first leg at Spotland had ended goalless, meaning a winner takes all encounter at the Priestfield Stadium, Gillingham, but it was the home side who triumphed 2-1.
