Sam: A disappointing day
Boss Sam Allardyce felt that Rovers didn't do enough to get anything out of the game at the Britannia Stadium this Saturday afternoon.
The game looked to be heading towards a goalless draw and a useful away point until Liam Lawrence struck 15 minutes from time.
And whilst Allardyce would have been delighted with a point, he was disappointed that the team didn't impose any concerted pressure on Stoke.
"I have to say I thought if we could have come away with a 0-0 it would have been a fantastic point for us because at the end of the day we didn't really create as much as I expected today," said Allardyce after the game.
"So that all-important clean sheet would have been very important to us today and the point would have been important.
"But the way the goal came about was really disappointing because we've dealt with everything that Stoke have thrown at us and this one wasn't a great ball, it wasn't a great cross but unfortunately it sneaks through and ends up with Lawrence. He showed a really good bit of skill and Paul Robinson was very unfortunate that he didn't quite save it.
"If we'd have got a draw I'd have been happy but we wouldn't have deserved any more than that.
"It is a disappointing day for us and one that we'll have to put behind us and make sure we get ready for Wigan next week."
