Sam's relief
Whilst it certainly wasn't a feast of flowing football at Ewood Park, Sam Allardyce was hugely relieved that Rovers were able to claim all three points against Tottenham.
It had looked like for the second home game in succession an error from the officials would prove costly for Rovers after Peter Walton ruled Givet intentionally handled Lennon's cross with Robbie Keane scoring from the spot.
But after Tottenham had Wilson Palacios sent off, Rovers rallied, Benni McCarthy firing Rovers level with just over five minutes remaining before Andre Ooijer tapped home on ninety for Rovers to grab a vital victory.
Speaking to Radio Rovers after the game, boss Sam Allardyce said: "I think both sides today didn't give their best performances, but we aren't interested in performances only how we can win.
"But the way it came today I didn't quite expect it, but that is the excitement of the Barclays Premier League and football in general."
The Rovers boss revealed that after Morten Gamst Pedersen had limped off with a calf injury midway through the first half, Jason Roberts couldn't continue at the break due to a foot injury.
"In this league you can never know what is going to turn your way as long as you keep going and we've had to overcome a lot of problems today," added Sam. "Injuries occurred before half-time, Jason Roberts wanted to come off a little sooner but he saw through to half time, and Morten came off with a calf injury that was probably down to the internationals.
"So we put Chris Samba up front and then we shuffled the midfield around and put Stevie Warnock on the left, then we got the goal and finally in the end we got the winner.
"It feels great to win at home again, it has been a long time since we've done it."
After the West Ham game in which a linesman's failure to spot an offside, Allardyce had hoped for better fortune from the officials, but again that wasn't the case, with Allardyce fuming at what he saw.
"We've had to come back from a disastrous decision by the referee as far as I'm concerned. Not just when you look at the ball hitting Gaël on the arm, no movement from the arm at all. The Assistant referee was in a much better position to give the penalty than the referee.
"Then you've got Corluka's handball, then Robbie Keane's handball was completely ignored by the officials.
"It is very inconsistent refereeing but we've overcome that decision today but I'm very angry regarding that decision because even though we've got the three points and it hasn't cost us, I don't particularly like what is happening.
"But after all that we've won so I can sleep a little better tonight."
