Boss Sam Allardyce felt the second half display from his Rovers side was the reason they crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Coventry City.
Rovers had the better of the game in the first period but couldn't convert their chances, and they were made to pay when Leon Best headed home unmarked just past the hour.
But Allardyce's charges couldn't raise their game to get back into the match, a header from Roque Santa Cruz and a last-gasp one from Chris Samba their only efforts to show for in a disappointing second forty-five.
"I was very disappointed with the attitude in terms of closing the opposition down and stopping them from playing," said Allardyce after the game.
"We had no problems doing that in the first half so why we couldn't keep it up for ninety minutes is the reason we lost."
All the talk now will be of focusing on the league, and whilst the Rovers boss agrees with the sentiment, he still believed he picked a side that should have seen them through to the last eight of the competition.
"The Premier League is always the priority, from the first day the season starts until it finished," added Allardyce. "But we all want to be dreaming of getting to an FA Cup final or at least going as far as we can.
"Unfortunately the priority of the Premier League means you have to put those ambitions aside at this stage of the season, but that doesn't mean to say that the eleven players I picked today should not have gone out and won this game.
"I think they should have, that is why I picked them, they wanted this opportunity to play more first team football, and in the first half they showed me that, but in the second half they didn't.
"The goal obviously spurred Coventry on and gave them a little bit more energy, but it should have made sure we competed and matched and tried to better that and then use our abilities. Using your ability only comes after winning the battle, but in the second half we didn't win the battle to go on and win the game, we lost it."
