Boss Sam Allardyce felt that a combination of missed chances and incorrect decisions proved costly as Rovers slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford.
After getting back on level terms thanks to Roque Santa Cruz's well-taken goal, Rovers had chances to take the lead, and strong penalty claims waved away, but in the end they just didn't get the rub of the green.
"You don't expect too many decisions to go for you at this place, so you've got to expect that and I don't think they did," said Allardyce after the game.
"You have to take your opportunities when they come along, and the two golden opportunities - the first one that hit the post and instead of it dropping in the side of the net comes out, Dioufy follows up and instead of putting that back in the net hits the goalkeeper and I think that is the turning point really.
"As well as we played in the second half, that needed to go in.
"Then there is the penalty situation, Sir Alex doesn't think its a penalty, I do. As managers we are both going to be a bit biased. Unfortunately it hasn't been given.
"From then on we were still in the game but we couldn't quite convert any of the chances.
"When you play at this level, you've got to make sure you take your chances and unfortunately we didn't."
