No new injuries to report

Posted on: Fri 06 Feb 2009

Rovers have got no new injury concerns ahead of this weekend's vital Premier League game with Aston Villa.

Boss Sam Allardyce will be missing only long-term absentees Steven Reid and Brett Emerton for the visit of Martin O'Neill's side tomorrow afternoon.

The manager's biggest selection dilemma will undoubtedly be deciding who plays in the centre of midfield and who occupies the two striking spots.

David Dunn, who got an hour under his belt in midweek after recovering from an Achilles problem, and unlikely goal hero Aaron Mokoena, will be hoping to retain their roles in the starting line-up.

Whilst Tugay, Vince Grella and Keith Andrews, who has recovered from the gashed leg he sustained in Rovers' last league game against Middlesbrough, will also be pushing for a place.

With six goals in his last five home games, Benni McCarthy is again likely to lead the line - supported by either Jason Roberts or Roque Santa Cruz.

And having watched the last two games against Middlesbrough and Sunderland from the sidelines, new signing El-Hadji Diouf will be desperate to make his Rovers debut in front of the Ewood fans - although Carlos Villanueva's impressive performance on the right of midfield on Wednesday night will certainly have provided the manager with food for thought.
