Three up front is an option - Sam

Posted on: Sat 31 Jan 2009

SAM Allardyce would consider playing all three of his main strikers at the same time ... if the circumstances were right.

However, the Rovers boss is very unlikely to go with it from the start at Middlesbrough today!

Rovers looked a potent threat when Roque Santa Cruz came off the bench to play alongside Jason Roberts and Benni McCarthy during the second half fightback against Bolton last Wednesday night.

And the boss said: "You can never have too many options and, if the circumstances dictated or demanded, then I would play all three together again that's for sure.

"Having Roque on also allowed us to hold Benni a little deeper and that worked too for he provided the pass for Stephen Warnock's goal and then arrived late into the box to grab an equaliser."
