MANAGER Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Robbie Fowler and Nigel Winterburn have both left the club.
The Rovers chief decided not to renew Robbie's contract when it ran out last week, and he has also dispensed with Nigel's services after deciding he does not require a specialist defensive coach in his backroom team.
Big Sam said: "We have decided to let Robbie Fowler go. His contract was due for renewal and I decided not to renew that.
"I also spoke to Nigel Winterburn today to say that, from my point of view, in terms of specialist defensive coaching, I think I can look after that area myself now.
"I spoke to Nigel and Robbie, wished them all the best, and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as well."
Tickets for Friday's match go off sale at Ewood Park at 11.30am on Wednesday 24th December. Tickets will be available on the day of the game at the Stadium of Light.
