Posted on: Thu 18 Dec 2008

New Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has appointed Neil McDonald to be his assistant manager.

Neil, head coach at Leeds United, has a wealth of coaching experience, including a spell with Sam at Bolton Wanderers.

Karl Robinson is to remain on the Rovers coaching staff, but Ray Mathias and Archie Knox have both been relieved of their duties.

In welcoming Neil, the club would like to thank Ray and Archie for their efforts over the past few months.
