ROVERS boss Paul Ince hopes that Roque Santa Cruz's goal against Liverpool last weekend will help to kick-start his season.
The Paraguayan striker, who netted 23 times in all competitions last season, has found goals slightly harder to come by this term, with last Saturday's late strike his first of the season on home soil.
With Rovers' currently preparing for this weekend's trip to Wigan, Roque will have fond memories of his last trip to the JJB - having scored a stunning hat-trick there in the corresponding fixture last season.
Roque went on to net a further five goals in the month of December last year and Ince hopes the South American star can rediscover his festive form again this time around.
"Roque got a hat-trick against Wigan last season and if he can do that again we'll be okay," said the manager.
"It was a boost for Roque last week, even though we lost to Liverpool. He got his first goal at home and I believe last year he started scoring around the Christmas time.
"Roque has been in and out as far as training-wise and playing games. It has been a roller-coaster season for Roque as far as playing week-in week-out, but he seems to be getting fitter and stronger.
"The goal last week will have done him the world of good and hopefully it will be the start of things to come."
Fans can still gain admission to this afternoon's match at the JJB Stadium by cash only on the turnstiles. Prices are £20 Adults, £15 Concessions.
