Andrews on target
KEITH Andrews earned his first international cap and got on the scoresheet, but ultimately ended up on the losing side in Dublin.
The Rovers midfielder pulled on the green jersey of Ireland for the first time in a senior international as a second half substitute in the friendly match against Poland in Croke Park on Wednesday evening and even managed a fine goal, but it was mere consolation as Poland ran out 3-2 winners.
The visitors struck early through Lewandowski's header after just three minutes, and extended their lead after the break thanks to a goal from Guerreiro.
Stephen Hunt pulled a goal back from the penalty spot three minutes from time, but Poland hit back immediately thanks to Lewandowski's glorious strike.
There was still time for more goal action when in added time Keith Andrews marked his first cap with a fine goal, lashing home from the edge of the box.
Earlier in the day Roque Santa Cruz featured for Paraguay as they defeated Oman 1-0, whilst Benni McCarthy and Aaron Mokoena were on the winning side as South Africa defeated Cameroon 3-2. McCarthy playing the first half.
Morten Gamst Pedersen played for 89 minutes as Norway slipped to a 1-0 defeat by the Ukraine, Georgia lost 2-1 in Romainia, but Andre Ooijer's Holland defeated Sweden 3-1 in Amsterdam, the Rovers defender playing the full match.
Two players who didn't feature for their countries last night were Paul Robinson and Carlos Villanueva. Both were unused substitutes as England defeated Germany 2-1 in Berlin and Chile lost 3-0 to Spain in Villareal.
