MANAGER Paul Ince has revealed that Saturday's game against Bolton Wanderers wouldn't have suited Morten Gamst Pedersen.

The Norwegian international was a surprise omission from the 18-man squad that faced the Trotters at the Reebok on Saturday with the Rovers boss feeling that it wasn't a game for Pedersen.

"Morten had been away with Norway, he played against Holland, played against Scotland, but I just felt that the way the game was, that it wasn't the type of game for him," revealed the Rovers boss.

"The good thing about this team now is that we've got 20 players that you can pick from. Players are going to be left out, players will be on the bench.

"That is the kind of competition you want, that is healthy competition and if you've got that then you've got a chance.

"We've got some fantastic players and if you can couple that with the spirit that we've shown defensively then we've got something going here, it was pleasing that we did play some good football, some nice one and two touch against Bolton.

"We can improve and we will get better, and I feel the fans are enjoying the way we are playing football, the style that we are playing football at.

"They came here in large numbers, four thousand of them and they were fantastic. They made so much noise and they spur the lads on, they do. And if they coming like that then we'll all be happy."
