A host of Rovers players are back in action for their countries on Wednesday in the latest round of World Cup qualifiers.

The game of most interest to Rovers fans takes place in Olso in a match that could see two Rovers players go head-to-head as Morten Gamst Pedersen's Norway face Andre Ooijer's Netherlands.

The Dutch occupy top spot in Group 9 with two wins from their two games so far. If they maintain their 100% start to the campaign then it will put them in a strong position to qualify for the championships in South Africa.

Norway have struggled so far with draws against Iceland and Scotland, so a home win would provide a welcome boost.

The Rovers Experience - Coming soon

First in action on Wednesday will be Australia who take on Qatar in Brisbane in their Asia Group 1 qualifier. Brett Emerton should start for the Socceroos as they look to move to the top of the table ahead of their rivals.

Qatar currently occupy top spot with four points from their two games, but Australia will go above them if they add to their win over Uzbekistan, their only group game played as yet.

Closer to home, with one win and one draw from their two Group 8 games so far, the Republic of Ireland have a chance to put pressure on group leaders Italy when they face Cyprus in Dublin.

Keith Andrews could be in line to make his first senior appearance for the Irish after being a late addition to Giovanni Trapattoni's squad. But whilst he isn't named in Trapattoni's starting eleven for the game at Croke Park this evening, he could make an appearance from the substitutes bench.

Also in Group 8, Georgia, captained by Rovers defender Zurab Khizanishvili, will be looking to add to the point they picked up against Cyprus at the weekend when they face Bulgaria in Tblisi.
